Bresse-Vallons - Bocage d'Etrez

Rendezvous in the heart of the Bresse landscapes for a discovery immersion in a heritage land. Happiness is on the way... hands on the handlebars 5 marked circuits from 6,2 to 43,5 kmLocated in the heart of the Bresse region and an area entirely dedicated to leisure activities: the "Plaine tonique". It gathers on the same site, a four stars campsite, an aquatic space, a restaurant and a lake dedicated to aquatic and nautical leisure activities, a beach labeled "Blue Flag". 140 hectares of greenery, between lakes and river, serve as a backdrop for a day visit, a short or long stay. Five lakes linked to each other, with beaches, picnic and barbecue tables, playgrounds, a sports centre... a concentration of leisure activities and services. The big lake is the ideal starting point to discover the landscapes of the Bresse countryside. Land of the Bresse farms so characteristic with their Saracen chimneys, it is also the land of the famous Bresse poultry but also of the Bresse butter and cream AOP. Following the river Reyssouze is to combine heritage and nature, to be next to mills, wet meadows and gravel pits. Bresse is also a land of ponds, the Pontremble pond, one of the largest and most frequented by migratory birds and the Bizadan pond, a sensitive natural area, a marsh in the heart of the forest. 5 marked circuits Five circuits are entirely marked out, for a total of 130 km, for all levels. Circuit n° 1 : The tour of the lakes (6,2 km) Circuit n° 2 : From the base to Etrez (16,3 km) Circuit n°3 : Between lakes and forest (20,5 km) Circuit n°4 : The royal way (41,1 km) Circuit n°5 : From the Bresse lakes to the pond of Pontremble (43,5 km) On site: - A map or a hiking guide retracing the itineraries - Mountain bike rental at the Maison des sports de la base de loisirs

A 3-hectare wooded area less than 2 km from the village of Etrez. It's both a place for walks and picnics for young and old, and a place dedicated to the conservation of tree and shrub species.The site is open to the public all year round, provided they respect the visitor's charter on the entrance sign. It is visited by individuals, groups and schoolchildren, particularly on Nature Day. The "Arbres et Nature" association is involved in the creation of an arboretum to the north of the commune. Its aim is to promote trees to the general public of all generations through a better understanding of trees, their life, history, uses, role, function in nature and their enhancement. Objectives : - Preserve regional tree species and introduce rare species of the same species for educational purposes. - To offer future generations a place to recharge their batteries, in the calm of a protected and managed forest area. To date, 133 trees of different species and 80 shrubs have been planted, all marked with a plaque bearing their Latin and French names. A 250 m hedge borders the park on 2 sides. There's also a 200-year-old "plessée" hornbeam, one of the remarkable trees listed by Patrimoine des Pays de l'Ain. Two wetlands have been created: a pond and an area of 3 basins with a footbridge, home to aquatic plants, insects and amphibians, including the protected yellow-bellied toad. The association organizes guided tours to raise visitors' awareness of the need to conserve biodiversity, particularly on Heritage Days. To further promote biodiversity, the association has acquired the adjacent land (approx. 2 ha) and is working to rehabilitate the pond, which was still in water a hundred years ago (see plot plan).

Dans le sud de la Bresse, plusieurs étangs subsistent, à l’instar de ceux de la Dombes toute proche. Parmi eux, l’étang Bizadan, une relique des temps anciens, plutôt originale.L’étang accueille sur ses berges des milieux marécageux qui regorgent d’eau... et de vie ! Couvert de plantes aquatiques et serti d’un écrin de forêt qui se teinte de belles couleurs à l’automne, Il offre des paysages de nature variés, à admirer au fil des saisons. "ENS" de l’Ain : Le marais de l'étang de Bizadan a été labellisé "ENS" par le Département de l'Ain en 2017. Véritables joyaux naturels et paysagers du Département de l'Ain, les sites bénéficiant du label ENS « Espaces naturels sensibles » sont gérés de manière à préserver la biodiversité qu’ils accueillent et aménagés pour l’ouverture au public (sauf exception due la fragilité des milieux).
