Opposite you, the old Villette mill, now restored as a gîte.Like the Combes mill discovered at the beginning of this route, the Villette mill was in use until after the war. Rural life in the mountains meant that people had to fend for themselves to live and eat. The resources were only those willing to grow in these mountain soils and subject to a short, beautiful season.

The path you are taking leads to the Via Ferrata. This is your chance to try this adventure, for more information contact the Tourist Office.Below the path leading to the waterfall, the remains of a ruined house (difficult to see): a manor house in the countryside, it belonged to a former family of notaries, the Molins.

Watch Vaujany resort-village from its waterfall. If you prefer a late afternoon stroll, you can enjoy a magnificent sunset over the valley.Do not enter the waterfall bed. Very slippery and prone to fatal falls. The origin of the word la Fare comes from precipice. The waterfall is formed at the level of Plan des Cavales, the glacial lake of La Fare being its reservoir. Then the watercourse follows the mountain and falls at the cliffs.

La Villette is a hamlet of Vaujany, which has experienced many fires, the last of which dates back to the Second World War.This is why you find houses that look rather recent. In the past the village roofs were thatched and the proximity of the houses caused fires to spread. The only means of heating was by fire. On your left you will find the old communal oven. As it was not possible for each house to have its own oven, the inhabitants used this oven. If you feel like it, you can visit the hamlet (the hamlet is small, so the visit is short!): you will find the small chapel, the little streets going up and the Côte Belle centre, which welcomes groups and schools. Traditionally, Vaujany is a resort that welcomes young people, just as in the past, children from the welfare system used to live with certain families or only came in the summer to help with the work in the fields, with the animals and with the wood.
