Eglise XII - XIII ème siècle

Church XII - XIIIth century sheltering a painting of SAINT-CHRISTOPHE from the school of Bernard d'Agesci :

The church of SAINT-CHRISTOPHE-SUR-ROC was built in the 11th - 12th century then renovated in the 18th century following a fire. It has a semicircular apse, a square bell tower and a fragment of a funerary plaque probably dating from the 13th century. This plaque depicts a horseman in arms with his dog at his feet. The interior of the church was completely restored in 2014, restoration of the walls, pews, the 17th century high altar tomb, the Way of the Cross and the statues and statuettes. The stained glass windows have been damaged by time and by an act of vandalism on one of the bays of the nave. They were fully restored in 2007/2008. The painting of SAINT CHRISTOPHE was commissioned by the commune in 1805.1809 from Bernard d'Agesci's workshop in NIORT.
