L'église abbatiale Saint-Pierre
Description
This "Historic Monument" is a pure jewel of Romanesque art, a superb assembly of 11th, 12th and 13th century architecture. Come and discover its magnificent historiated capitals, its Plantagenet style vaults, its mechanical organ classified as a "Historic Monument" and the sculpted tomb of its first abbot Pierre-de-Saine-Fontaine. Guided tours of the church can be arranged on request from the heritage department of the town hall of Airvault (05 49 64 69 51) or from the association les Amis de l'Abbatiale (Serge Rousseau : 05 49 70 81 92 / 06 88 79 31 84).
