Tour d'Yssandon

At the top of the Puy d'Yssandon, at the entrance to the small village perched at an altitude of 360 metres, the silhouette of a tower can be seen. The site has long been known for its strategic defensive position: a Gallic oppidum is said to have existed here, and Pepin le Bref confronted Waïfre the Duke of Aquitaine in the 8th century.

But this imposing tower is the last vestige of a medieval castle that was destroyed during the Hundred Years' War in the 15th century. Today, picnic tables allow visitors to take a break and enjoy the mounded landscape and panoramic views of the Puy's surroundings.
