As true sentinels of the landscape, some trees have survived through the centuries. A landmark for those who move, a remarkable tree often has sacred, magical or medicinal virtues. As you continue on your way to the next stop, you will come across the branches of a large tree sitting on a small nipple: the Big Lime Tree of Braffe greets you well. 400 years old, it houses a small chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame des champs in the hollow of its trunk. Already impressive in 1745, he offered his shadow to the wounded of the Battle of Fontenoy.
