One menhir or two?
This imposing megalith along the road through La Croterie is made up of two blocks:
The first stone is 4.20m high, 3.20m wide and 1m thick at its base.
The second, smaller stone lies at the foot of the first.
Some specialists believe that these are two parts of the same menhir, broken off when it was moved to the Platennes dolmen.
Menhirs walk
The Chevanou menhir was listed as a Historic Monument by decree on 2 May 1989.
It stands by the roadside close to the hamlet of La Crotrie, where the "Les menhirs" hiking trail passes in the commune of Chauvé.
