


British “Achilles” tank destroyer dedicated to the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry Regiment. During the Battle of the Bulge, this unit intervened in support of the 51st Highland Division and it was the first tank to enter the town following the 1st Battalion Black Watch. Erected as a monument, it now symbolises the liberation of the town by the British troups on 11 January 1945.The tank was restored by the Museum of the Battle of the Ardennes, in conjunction with the Municipality of La Roche-en-Ardenne. It was inaugurated on 11 January 2000 to mark the 55th anniversary of the liberation.Further information: British M-10 Achilles Memorial
