Monein is a typical Béarn village which extends over 8000 hectares. In the historic heart is the largest Gothic church in Bearn, the church of Saint-Girons. Impressive by the size of its bell tower (40 m) and unique by its asymmetrical frame with double hull of ship reversed, 3 generations of builders succeeded one another between 1464 and 1530 to build it. The tourist office offers a guided tour of the church with a sound and light show under the roof. To visit Monein is also to discover the vineyard of Jurançon since 60% of the production of Jurançon is made on Monein. It is thus the privileged place to go to meet the wine growers. Some of these families have been making wine for 5 generations. This village is ideal for walking, with its paths and its remarkable panoramas. Follow the interpretation trail from the centre of Monein.
