



Situated in Charnegie country, halfway between Bidache and Saint Palais, Bergouey Viellenave is a place of passage for pilgrims on the way to Tours. In the 12th and 13th centuries, an important religious activity developed, leaving the church as an architectural testimony. Built in the middle of the 13th century, this former chapel was attached to a priory hospital. Marked by the transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style, it has an elongated plan with a single nave, a three-sided chevet, and a stained glass window of Saint Jacques le majeur. The portal is remarkable, with a tympanum in semicircular semicircular arches and a decorated hanging key. Outside, there is a polygonal stairway tower and three discoid stelae embedded in the wall.
