Ciboure

Description

Town of charm an tradition of the Basque Country, Ciboure is primarily the city of sailors ans artists.
Fishing town and shipowners, Ciboure experienced its heyday at the wedding of Louis XIV in 1660.
To relate this rich historical past, many guided tours are offered by the Tourist Office.
Ciboure closes several classified monuments :
- The house of the birthplace of Maurice Ravel, built circa 1630 wich welcomed the Cardinal Mazarin.
- The tower of Bordagain dominates the bay, old chapel of Our Lady built in the late sixteenth century.
- The church of St. Vincent that stands out for its octogonal bell towe.
- Fountain dating from 1676.
- The art déco Villa Leihorra built by the architect Josehp Hiriart.
