Description

In the heart of the Medieval City of Sauveterre-de-Béarn, The 12th-13th century Saint-André church is part of a set of impressive fortifications intended to protect the city. Fortified at the base with its walkway 27m above the ground, it monitored arrivals from the Gave below because you are at the door of Béarn, kingdom of Gaston Fébus. Today completely restored from the inside, and classified as a historic monument, it is proud to present its paintings and its magnificent choir.
From the church, a beautiful walk is offered to you to discover the history of the city. The banks of the Gave are a few dozen steps to reach the Gave below and admire the view of the upper town. In addition, the shops around allow you to taste our small local specialties, and there is something for everyone (Charrier chocolates, Ihidoy ham ...).
