In 1911, the station, built by Adolphe Dervaux, was both sober and elegant in a pure "Art Nouveau" style
After the Second World War, only an omnibus network remained. The last shuttle service to Biarritz station, "La Négresse", ran on September 14, 1980.
The station was demolished in 1988, when it was converted into a palace. Since 1991, festivals and shows have been held at the Gare du Midi. A 1400-seat hall.
Today, the "Gare du Midi", with its two auditoriums, hosts the city?s biggest events, and since 1998 has been home to the Malandain Ballet Biarritz.
