Fourques-sur-Garonne

Fourques-sur-Garonne has an original geographical location, not far from a fork formed by two arms of the river. Although this position allows it to enjoy fertile land and river trade, it is not immune to the vagaries of the Garonne.
In the 19th century, major works were undertaken in the town. The digging of the lateral canal to the Garonne and the construction of a new church erased the last traces of the medieval bastide. Pines were planted in the commune to reconstitute the old forest, which had disappeared since the 18th century. Fourques conceals a superb nautical stopover in Pont des Sables, ideal for a good moment of relaxation or to prepare a boat trip.
