Did you know that Saint-Sardos is a landmark in the history of France? In 1323, the Saint-Sardos incident broke out: English troops destroyed the bastide, hanged the governor of the King of France and swept the inhabitants to pieces. This event marked the beginning of the Hundred Years' War.
From its church, partly ruined, remains its magnificent 12th century Romanesque portal, classified as a Historic Monument. It was restored in the 20th century and includes two columns carved with fabulous animals and fantastic characters. Saint-Sardos and its green and hilly landscapes offer picturesque horizons not to be missed!
