Description

In the former garden of the Augustinian convent, near the remains of the church gate and its still preserved tower, a charming garden brings back to life forgotten essences used in the Middle Ages by the monks.
Medieval garden created in 2013, according to the monastic garden of the "Plan de St Gall" (806) and whose plants are inspired by the Capitular of Villis, created at the request of Charlemagne in 795 to give instructions for land management; among the recommendations is the list of about a hundred plant species that must be included in the royal and monastic gardens of the entire Carolingian Empire; these plants, herbs, trees, etc.. these plants, herbs, trees, etc. are classified into four categories, the hortus (vegetable garden), the herbularius (the garden of the simple, medicinal plants), the orchard (vine) and the utilitarian plants.
