The gateway to the Château Cap de Haut

Following the road that leads from the estuary to the centre of the village of Lamarque, just to the right of the Saint-Seurin church, visitors discover a beautifully preserved monumental gate.
The cut stone gateway to the Château Cap de Haut's is adorned with two family crests.
This vineyard formed part of the fiefdom that once ruled the area, with the famous Lamarque fortress as its centrepiece.Attentively, visitors examine the structure as a veritable gateway to the region's history: the latch is marked with the date 1704, and the gate is emblazoned with the heraldry of the Comte de Fumel and the Marquis d'Evry.This illustrious history continues to the present day, as the Château Lamarque's current owners are direct descendants of the noble houses who once presided over this vast estate.
