The neo-Gothic St. Stephen's Church was completed in 1877 (in place of a small Romanesque church) and consecrated in 1878. This new church was largely financed by donations from the parishioners and the parish priest of Branne, Father Lapeyre (the real master builder of the project)
The building has a nave surrounded by two aisles with four bays (covered by cross vaults)
The high altar (in stone and marble), designed by Abbot Lapeyre, is inspired by that of the Sainte-Chapelle.
At the level of the façade, three portals are surmounted by two high octagonal arrows. The building is supported on its flanks by buttresses (with abutments decorated with pinnacles). The church ends in the east with a chevet with a main gabled apse and two apsidioles.
Come and discover this monument symbolizing the rise of the city and the will of a man.
