Eglise Saint Léger de Sauveterre de Guyenne

Description

Burned down in the 16th century by the Protestants, this Romanesque church is now truncated, as only the vaulted choir with its Byzantine dome and the apse with its flattened cul-de-four remain. However, the apse was not originally vaulted. After the fire, the triumphal arch was walled up and a door was built. The decoration of the building was largely destroyed in the 16th century.
Inscribed I.S.H.M 1925.
