Nestled in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers hills, Sadirac, a small village 20 km from Bordeaux, is an important pottery center. In its subsoil lies a treasure: a blue clay of a great plastic quality particularly appreciated by potters. The tradition of pottery in Sadirac goes back to the Antiquity with an important development from the 14th century until the end of the 19th century. There were fifty active kilns in the commune of Sadirac around which a whole activity was organized, punctuated by the firing of the clay. Some kilns are still visible like the one of Casse dating from the 17th century and located near the Maison de la Poterie.
