Eglise de Auzac

Description

The building, of which only vestiges remain, was built in the Lysos valley at the end of the 12th or beginning of the 13th century. Concerning the bell-wall, it dates from the 14th century but will be improved in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Abandoned in the years 1920-1930, the church was deprived of its capitals, which were ceded to the city of Bordeaux and then classified as a historical monument on 30 May 1961.
The bells were transported to the church of Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception in Grignols. One of them bears the inscription "St. Jean Baptiste, pray for us".
