Behind Rohan Palace, the seat of Bordeaux Town Hall which shares its gardens with the Museum of Fine Art and which offer a panorama of the main trends in western art from the Renaissance to present day.
Bordeaux Museum of Fine Art occupies two twinned wings, added to Rohan Palace in 1851. The south wing has a large choice of masterpieces from the 16th to the 18th centuries, representing Italian (Titien, Veronese), Flemish (Brueghel l’Ancien) and French (Chardin) schools. The north wing, undergoing a complete renovation from 2011-2013, is a chance to get to know, if you don’t already, the great Bordeaux artists. Rosa Bonheur, Odilon Redon, Albert Marquet, André Lhote and Tobeen made their mark on the main artistic trends in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Opposite the museum, the Gallery of Fine Art completes the permanent collection by regularly hosting temporary exhibitions.
