It was the lord of Rauzan who, in 1265, founded one of the oldest Franciscan establishments in France. Situated outside the city walls, the monastery was nevertheless a privileged place of arbitration: in 1451, the Count of Armagnac received the capitulation of Sauveterre-en Bazadais there, and in 1789, the municipal assemblies were held in the church, now destroyed, following the sale of the establishment as a national asset. The monastery buildings organised around the former cloister remain, with openings renewed in the 18th century on the Garonne side, and the original facades facing the hillsides.
It is currently the Lycée d'Enseignement Privé Notre-Dame du Rosaire.
