The church of Cars, was a part of the abbey of Saint-Sauveur de Blaye. The oldest parts of the building are from the 11th century. It was then changed during the Roman period and the Gothic period. During the 11th century, there was at this place a large non vaulted church, built in quite irregular rocks. A second floor had been added to the bell tower in 1858 and covered with colored tiles.
