In the Middle Ages, the parish of Sillas was under the jurisdiction of the Lordship of Lerm and belonged to the Bishops of Bazas. Its tithe was given to the priory of Notre-Dame de Laguardère, a disappeared establishment which, according to a deed of 1388, could have been located in Saint-Michel-de-Castelnau. Two mills were built on the Barthos: the mill of Bonloc and the Moulin Neuf which belonged until 1790 to the bishop of Bazar. The sandy soil of the territory is favourable to the forest. There is no village in the commune : the town hall is situated at a crossroads, near a sawmill, and the church is in the middle of the fields.
