For some, the church of Saint-Julien is exceptional, even the most beautiful in the Médoc; for others, it is simply different from all other churches. Saint-Estèphe, Pauillac, Arcins, Cantenac... have a particular style in the shape of a temple. With the wine boom of the 18th century there were initiatives to destroy Romanesque churches and to build the present churches. A characteristic feature of these churches is the austere exterior and the very elaborate baroque interior (Saint-Estèphe, Cantenac).
