It is likely that the village of Potensac was born around this gushing spring, a rare phenomenon in the Médoc. A 19th century document mentions that its flow complicates the life of the inhabitants and users of the Lesparre road. On the side, a stone spillway ensures the flow of the fountain in a cemented basin with two compartments. When the first compartment is filled, the water goes into the second and then overflows into the gutter, passes under the Lesparre road and travels through small communal ditches to reach the Reysson and Gironde marshes via the Aubiers fountain.
It is a real place of life of the village.
