The church of a convent of Benedictine monks, founded in the 11th century, served as a parish church until the Revolution. At that time, the monks abandoned the convent, whose church remained until 1854. A new building was then constructed according to the plans of the architect Hosteing, the first work being the construction of the bell tower
The church, which has stained glass windows made by a Bordeaux workshop, retains rich furniture and statues from the previous building.
In 1858, the Archbishop of Bordeaux solemnly blessed the shrine containing relics from Auxerre of Saint Allodius, a saint reputed to have founded the primitive monastery.
