In 1883 and 1884, a 110 m long dock was dug and a solid earth was built. The inner embankment is extended by a jetty, with the Croix des Marins at its end, erected in 1891.
Several canneries were set up in the vicinity of the Gujanese ports. As the sardines migrated to Spain and Morocco, the factories gradually closed down.
The port of Larros is also a recognized shipbuilding site. Fourton, Dubourdieu, Pradère, Lapeyre...all sorts of boats will come out of these shipyards: oyster pinasses, sardines, pinassottes...
With the Maison de l'Huître (Oyster House), its oyster huts for tasting, the port of Larros is a very popular tourist site.
