This port was for a long time a stranding port established on the banks of the Gujan stream which flows into the Estey de Larros.
In 1883, improvement work included the digging of a dock. The land resulting from the digging was used to create the open areas where many oyster huts were established.
Established on this port in 1843, the establishment of the Gujanese Baths was a great success for nearly 70 years. The cabins were then accessed by a 450m long footbridge.
The port, called for a while "port of the footbridge", takes its name from this famous establishment.
