
Established on the banks of the Estey de Meyran, it was for years only a port of grounding.
Dedicated to fishing and oyster farming, the port of Meyran was used as a terminal, from 1919 to 1935, for the Decauville railway line, through which the mine posts from the Gironde and Landes forests were transported.
The poles were then loaded onto barges pulled by two tugs rotating to the cargo ships in front of Arcachon, bound for England.
