This church was built during the 12th century but had several renovations to its actual appearance.
Originally it was an humble roman chapel with a nave surrounded by with graveyard and located near a monastery.
Pilgrims heading to Santiago de Compostella did a stop there after being at La Sauve Majeure abbey near Créon.
During the 1850's, the bishop of Bordeaux commanded the building of an extra bay with a bell tower, overhanging the porch and its triple voussoirs. The portal and the apse are listed historical monuments.
