Entirely built of stone, the church of Saint-Pardon-de-Conques is dedicated to the archangel Raphael. Built on a rocky spur on the crest line of the Garonne, it served as a landmark for the boatmen. It was probably built towards the end of the 11th century as a resting place for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The village of Saint Pierre d'Aurillac, situated on the other bank of the river, was indeed one of the great stages before the perilous crossing of the Landes. This church is characterized by the inclination of its choir in relation to the nave, which represents that of the head of Christ at the time of his death.
