The Monségur hall is the result of 2 stages of construction carried out thirty years apart. The peripheral part was designed by Henri Issartier with a view to reserving the centre for an ornamental garden, thus giving the square a non-commercial function. A generation later, the lack of sheltered area led the municipality of Albert to cover the central part. The two-storey elevation and 200 m² of glass allows sufficient natural light despite the imposing dimensions of the space thus covered. The hall houses covered markets, fairs and various events including the famous jazz festival.
