Ruines de l'église de Montarouch

Description

According to the archaeological analyses of Léo Drouyn or Professor Gardelles, Montarouch was built around 1160-1180. The Commandery of Montarouch, initially a Templar commandery until 1312, was reunited with the Order of Malta. It functioned under this rule until 1790 when the religious orders were suppressed in France. On the east wall, above the triplet of windows, the signature of the Order of the Templars can be seen: a large Cross with equal branches, with the ends slightly patted. Also to be seen are some traces of ancient frescoes which could be from the 13th century.
