Description
The chapel of Magrigne at Saint Laurent d'Arce
This Templar's chapel was built in the 12th century in Romanesque style and there are no lateral windows because of the buildings erected on either side. The single nave is supported by wide flat butresses of very beautiful stone. The apse is flat and opened by an elegant triplet with high narrow openings. Traces of 13th century paintings can be seen. It became derelict and was invaded by weeds and farm animals but was restored and returned to its former use in 1895. A pilgrimage takes place every year for Whitsunday (Pentecôte).
