Village de Marquay

Description

Marquay is a small town in the Périgord Noir located halfway between Sarlat and Les Eyzies.
Marquay is appreciated for its local, historical and archaeological heritage.
Among the various monuments that make up this heritage are the fortified church of Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens (12th century) and the Château de Puymartin (15th-17th centuries, open to visitors) which are classified as historical monuments and the Château de Laussel (15th and 16th centuries) which has a panorama with a view of the château de Commarque (open to visitors).
In addition, at the prehistoric level we can appreciate the Cap Blanc shelter which contains one of the greatest masterpieces, still accessible to the public, of monumental sculpture in the art of the Upper Paleolithic. It is famous today for its incomparable frieze of animals sculpted on the wall.
