Village de Tursac

Description

The small village of Tursac is situated on a wide plain on the banks of the Vézère, not far from the village of Les Eyzies de Tayac, the world capital of prehistory and the Lascaux cave.

The harmonious curves of the Vézère give the village a special character. The meandering river and the cliffs have encouraged human occupation since ancient times which has lasted throughout the centuries. Numerous sites testify to this durability. It is an ideal starting point to visit the site of the Madeleine, the Maison Forte de Reignac, a troglodytic fort, & also the Prehistopark, which has recently been refurbished for young and old.

The church of Tursac, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was built in the 12th century. Its history shows the transition from a Romanesque parish church to a fortified church.
