The Château de Barrière, namesake of the castle in Périgueux and located in the heart of Villamblard, is a medieval fortress built around its original 13th-century square keep, which was expanded until the 16th century.
Battered by the centuries, the château, which has been restored in a contemporary style by enthusiastic volunteers, is the birthplace of Count Wlgrin de Taillefer. It tells you its story and presents important collections of objects dedicated to the heritage of the Périgord region: fossils, prehistoric artefacts, cast iron objects (pots, andirons, fireplace plates, etc.).
Every year, it hosts numerous events that have transformed the castle from ruins to the cultural centre of the village.
