The lake is located in the middle of the forest and mountains of Ibardin. It is a water reserve built in the early 1930s. This site was selected because it is located in the valley of the river Arola between several mountains: Xoldo (486m), Munhoa (353m) and Onéaga (381m)
It offers a magnificent view of the village of Urrugne and the Basque coast. Swimming and fishing are prohibited. A signposted hike from the last venta at the top of the pass, Elizalde, allows access to it.
