Domaine de Pachan

At the Domaine de Pachan, a former agricultural and wine estate on the banks of the Garonne, the few winery buildings that remain now house the headquarters of the Gironde Hunters Federation.
The estate takes its name from an island that was once located in the estuary waters, but is now attached to the silts of the locality of Ludon.
In 2004, after cultivation was stopped, the estate was classified as a nature and hunting reserve.
Large bodies of water have been dug out to create an ideal nesting site for birds: throughout the year, visitors watch the endless ballet put on by the hundreds of bird species that inhabit the island.
