The Mugron site is a limestone outcrop in the form of a small hill. Among the coppices of holm oak, hawthorn and dogwood, small clearings covered with lawn open up. Several species of orchids thrive here. Numerous butterflies, including some rare species, can also be found on the hillside. It is a world of its own on this hillock, in the middle of the vineyards and overlooking the vast Gironde Estuary: an island on the water's edge, as it were.
