Panther tank Ausf. g.

This Panther tank (Panzer Mark V) was one of 5 German tanks abandoned in the minefield at the entrance to the village. The 43-tonne vehicle had a crew of 5 and was equipped with a 75mm cannon and two 7.62mm machine guns. It belonged to the 2nd Armoured Regiment of the 2nd SS Panzer Division.During the Battle of the Bulge, more than fifteen such vehicles were abandoned in the vicinity of Grandmenil, the extreme point of advance of this fearsome division, nicknamed “Das Reich”.Further information: The Grandmenil Panther rescued from the fighting
