Why You Shouldn’t Miss This
The Golden Circle of Iceland consists of a 300-kilometer journey encompassing the region around the capital, Reykjavik. The tour will include the famous Thingvellir National Park, Hot Springs of Geysir, and the majestic Gullfoss Waterfalls. The Thingvellir National Park is steeped in history and is home to the oldest parliament in the world. It exemplifies the beauty of Iceland and is the perfect embodiment of nature in its untouched and unruffled state.
Iceland is well-known for its hot springs and mud pools. A number of geysers populate this region, with some of them such as Strokkur sprouting water as often as every few minutes. One of them, known as Geysir, was the first to be described on a printed source. It is estimated to have been active for nearly 10,000 years. The Gullfoss waterfalls are situated in a canyon of the massive Hvítá river of Iceland. It disappears in two stages into a crevice that is more than a hundred feet deep.
The relaxing bus tour will allow you to truly appreciate the exquisite flora of Iceland, as you drive through the picturesque scenery of Thingvellir National Park. The park will allow you to retrace the steps of the ancient Vikings who once roamed these regions. The largest lake in Iceland, Thingvallavatn, with its crystal clear water is undoubtedly going to make you fall in love with this country. Your guide will elaborate on the rich culture and history of the region, allowing you to obtain a peek into the lives of people in ancient times.
The hilly regions of Haukadalur are perfectly suited for a hike, treating you to incredible panoramic views of the surroundings. As you see the Strokkur geyser sprouting a towering jet of water, and the ground trembles beneath your feet, the incredible forces of nature can be experienced. The blue-green water in the rocky region is a confluence of colors that can rarely be witnessed elsewhere. Geysir, although dormant most of the year, is the perfect hiking spot for those who want to catch astonishing sights of the surroundings from incredible vantage points.
The last attraction on the itinerary is the Gullfoss Waterfall. From afar, it presents the illusion of being a lake, landlocked on all sides. Only as you move in closer will you be able to catch sight of the plummeting waters over the edge of the canyon. A truly breathtaking sight, it is the perfect spot to lie back and absorb the sounds of the roaring waters that flow over the edge.
With a hop on hop off ticket, you can choose to spend more time at any of the iconic locations of your choice. A minimum 30-minute stop is included at each of the attractions.
