Solignac is located south of Limoges and is the birth town of Saint-Eloi. In 632, he founded a monastery here, after having been offered the town of « Villa Solemniacum » by “good King Dagobert”. The town is built around the 12th century abbey, along the river Briance. Festivities here include farmers’ markets, boot sales, an oyster fair, and candlelight concerts in the abbey. Our Tourist Office organizes guided tours of the church in summer.
