Eglise Saint-Jacques

Eglise Saint-Jacques

The Benedictine abbey of Saint-Jacques was founded in 1015. The remains of the crypt are all that remains of the primitive Romanesque church. The Romanesque forepart dates from the second half of the 12th century; the choir and nave were rebuilt in 1514 and 1538 in a flamboyant gothic style; the Renaissance doorway dates back to 1558. The church can be considered as one of the most beautiful in the country thanks to its architecture and interior decoration.
