Listed as a 15th-century historical monument, its discreet 18th-century layout makes it a friendly place. On an ancient site: "the old Guéret-Clermont highway", it protects Ahun in the East. A text from 1425 says: "There is everything you need for fortress at Villemonteix." Inhabited and furnished, it is home to a collection of antique tapestries (Aubusson, Felletin, Gobelins, Beauvais, Flanders, Ferrara), period furniture, the Béatrice de Camondo double Pleyel piano and various collections.
