Four à chaux de l'Aubraie
Description
Il reste aujourd'hui plusieurs fours à chaux à Saint Vincent Sterlanges et Chantonnay, dont certains fonctionnaient encore au début des années 1970. Cette activité industrielle a vu le jour grâce à la présence simultanée de charbon et de calcaire dans le sous-sol de la région. Ainsi, dans ces haut fourneaux, le calcaire était transformé en chaux vive qui servait ensuite à enrichir les sols agricoles environnants.
Le four à chaux de l'Aubraie est le seul de forme hexagonale du canton.
