What exactly is a swamp?

The marsh is a wetland with a flat relief. A layer of stagnant water accumulates on plots of land. An abundant vegetation then forms, favoring the breeding of cattle in summer.

Human action can play a role in the accumulation of water on these lands. Indeed, Man has dug hydraulic facilities (canals and gates) on these plots of land to drain these wetlands. He was then able to raise cattle.

The marsh is an ecosystem in its own right. There are amphibians, fish, insects and birds. The vegetation is also characteristic of this ecosystem. However, the latter remains fragile and often experiences the proliferation of invasive species. Laws now defend wetlands against pollution.
