Maravant Marsh

Like the approximately 100 glacial wetlands on the Gavot Plateau, the Maravant Marsh is a unique ecosystem that plays a key role in both the region’s water management and the preservation of local biodiversity.
Wetlands are fragile ecosystems that are essential to biodiversity and protected for their ecological importance. At an elevation of 850 meters, the Maravant Marsh in Saint-Paul-en-Chablais is part of the wetlands of the Gavot Plateau, which constitute the catchment area—the zone where water seeps in and feeds the source—of Evian® Natural Mineral Water. Its designation under the Ramsar Convention, granted in 2008, reflects the recognition of the value of this natural heritage and the efforts made to preserve it.
